Flight attendants have a new business choice in selecting a company for their cabin safety and training. Alteon Training, LLC, a company Boeing, a program started in November 2003 for flight attendants in their business centers in Long Beach, California. I was invited to participate in the class to get a better idea about the training to obtain their equipment, and Alteon, and even with my knowledge of the aviation community to share via this site.
In an industryseasoned with training facilities in various sizes and capacities, my first thoughts on Alteon just a run-of-the-mill training agency. Alteon is not only my initial concerns are overcome, but they proved to me that all schools should do the same: the operating system with the FAA under Part 142 FAR blessing fact, the program could soon be the Alteon point of reference against which all educational institutions will be assessed. I arrived in Long Beach from JFK on a Sunday evening, got my rental car and went to my room to prepare for my meeting with clock Monday 7 Alteon executives Jim Garner and Hal Collison. At clock 8, the remaining five students came down with them and I am in a training room to begin class. After brief introductions, Kathy Cummins was introduced as our instructor the first day of class service. The CorporateSchool of Etiquette was elected by Alteon to the service end of the training the first day. Middle three days was all running Alteon Training. San Diego has been selected for in-flight medical CPR, CPR, AED training and give on Friday. Kathy session began with a discussion about sending a journey. After two hours of instruction, it was all hands on training for most of the rest of the day. As we boarded the plane, I was pleasantly surprised to see that we have full access to the kitchen and the cabin, where we could really heat up the food and the air was cool for the "passengers".
Kathy gave students a scenario travel to work and we went to all the pre-start procedures, including the arrival of the passengers, take off, the food andWine service, in-flight procedures, before and after landing, and aircraft cleaning procedures. In the late afternoon with our in-flight training portion of the service behind it, we returned to Long Beach for additional classroom training on contracts and business flight attendant preparatory material. Somehow we managed, in what seemed to squeeze two days of training in one day. With the class clock was 06.00 and in-service training was part of the program behind us.
PattieAdams took the class on Tuesday and for the next three days, was asked to lead the class by the applicable FAR; crew member functions and procedures, safety, hazardous materials, and much more. As basic information Pattie was a chief designer of the new program Alteon, based on his experience as a flight attendant on corporate and commercial flight attendant, purser and teachers with United Airlines. Pattie experience in corporate and commercial law has been useful becausedeftly translates the language and some procedural differences between the two arenas, which is not lost in the class were new to the business aviation owned, but the shopping experience.
Because the formation of Long Beach Alteon work was finished, guest speakers were brought by the company to discuss some of the very technical aspects of flight. Gabriel Palermo discusses the mechanics of flight and Dick Bloomberg covers the on-board systems,in particular, what happens in the cockpit. The day was completed by a limited incursion into the local outdoor pool for ditching procedures and maneuvers.
The fifth and final day was the most difficult to tackle. Not that the course material would be a great challenge, but we were pleased with the recognition that a class that we no longer have to face together. Each of us knew that weAlteon part of history by participating in its inaugural class.
Pam Hammond, San Diego CPR has been proposed on Friday to overcome in-flight medical aspect of education, in particular the procedures for CPR and defibrillator. Having already completed the formation of the Red Cross, I was curious to know what the Red Cross teaches the difference between training and procedures of the American Heart Association, Pam us had in us, the program of the Red Cross has learned, while very good,oriented to the laity, and an American Heart Association program was what the medical community to use. At the end of the day, Alteon executives John Alexander, VP of the Americas, and Chris Johnson-Pasqua, General Manager, Long Beach Training Center out, was to thank and congratulate the students to teach.
